Straying from Political Correctness and Decency in General

So here's what I did:
  • went to google.com
  • clicked on image search
  • searched "cat looks like Hitler"

Apparently, these felines are known as "Kitlers" and there's more than one. This is not something i figured out on my own - I had heard of such a thing existing, but I needed to find out for myself. Now you know, and I bet that you also will be going to google.com and image searching "cat looks like Hitler" in the near future.

So, there's a "snow day" equivalency here in Belgium - transportation strikes. I live on the opposite side of the city from school and public transportation is not operating today due to a strike. No complaints here. It's midterms week and the study time is needed!

Onwards, shall we?

Life in general is pretty darn good :) I'm starting to get braver about practicing conversational French. I'm terrible at it, but that's what practicing is for, right? My vocabulary is so limited, and they talk so fast! I was able to understand a good deal of what a woman I met on the bus was saying yesterday. She was going on about how she was learing English through watching CNN. We were able to find out where each other was coming from, and I understood and responded to questions like "how long have you been here?" and "what are you studying?" Small victories.

It's amazing that it's almost normal for people here to be from somewhere else. Aside from my host moms, I've met very few Belgian Belgians. One, actually. Otherwise, I've gotten to speak with people from Poland, the Congo, France, Ireland, the United States, Croatia, South Korea, and so on. I'm definitley enjoying this intercultural interaction!

I need to go and hit the books for the rest of the day, but as an advertisement, you can expect a more detailed post with pictures about where I'm living, who I'm living with, and where I'm going to school in the near future, as well as posts about Amsterdam, Antwerp, Waterloo, and Bruges!

Love from Belgium!
Sarah

I love the cat that's raising his paw straight up. I laughed. :)

So you've been there for almost TWO MONTHS now. Can you believe that? It's Insane! I missed you last night...Jenn was home for a visit and a group of us--Brian, Em, Jon, Jenn, and me--when to TGI Friday for a late dinner after care group. We were just missing you though! *hug*

Love you Lena-Lena ;)

Sarah Sarah! I can't believe you've been gone so long and I haven't kept up with your blog!! Time is flying -- I've been so *busy*. Ugh. But I plan to read the WHOLE THING today.

Just a couple of comments . . . I'll write more, maybe an e-mail, after I read the whole thing . . .

I too laughed at the kitty with paw raised.

You said there was a transportation strike, but the date on the post said Sunday. Do you go to school on Sunday? Or is that a time-change thing, from Europe to US, and it was really Monday?
Is this confusing?
